The Future, Tomorrow

Tomorrow is the United States midterm election. As I write this, it’s already tomorrow (Tuesday) in Shenzhen, China. I voted absentee, but woke up today feeling anxious. The political world has been noisy for months. In the last 2 days, I’ve gotten 12 text messages from individual campaigns, DFLers, and independent advocates. I have responded to each of them with my full support and thanks, but can feel the desperation in the (figurative) air. I’m desperate too. Desperate to see my country rebalance and embrace change. Earlier this year, I cried for the first time at a decision made by a system that felt broken and out of my control. Then I realized that perhaps I have more influence than I thought, and that simply watching and feeling badly wasn’t enough, so I got involved. Today, I’m sending messages from the future to my friends and family urging them to vote tomorrow. And I’m putting this out there on the great information superhighway in the hopes that my sentiment merges with the data of others in one final push.

Go vote. Contribute. Cheerlead. Be vocal.
